SmartID by Centrix -     Providing protection and affording the opportunity to make safe business decisions when onboarding customers digitally

finPOWER Connect has introduced Centrix's SmartID Biometric Verification for their New Zealand consumers in version release 4.00.01.   Providing the Loan Management sector with an efficient, rationalised, secure system to digitally verify the identity of their customers, SmartID has many benefits for lenders and their clients alike.

The use of an identity checking service assists business and service providers in meeting obligations in regard to AML/CFT legislative requirements.  Perceived as a useful tool for the prevention of fraud, SmartID affords peace of mine to allow prudent business decisions  when offering customers the ability to open accounts online.

SmartID has the ability to be customised with your own Branding, Biometrics Workflow configuration, Data sources and Rule sets.

Prior to setting up SmartID in finPOWER Connect  there is a requirement to complete a  Centrix Biometric Subscriber Set-up Form and to setup Centrix  in finPOWER Connects Cost Centre, where credentials and required options should be entered.

How SmartID works

Centrix _SmartID_ Authentication

AUTHENTICATION

Starting with a photograph of a Government issued identification document (passport, driver’s licence etc), Smart ID with biometrics intelligently reads the photograph.  The software landmark tests the document , cross-referencing authenticity marks, and digitising any text in the image like name, date of birth, etc.


SmartID by Centrix can also capture the data on the identification document and push that through into an online application form for a truly seamless customer onboarding journey – minimising customer keystrokes.

VERIFICATION

The customer performs a liveness test to ensure biometrical matching against a real person, not a photo. Smart ID verifies the person is who they say they are against the photograph of their identification document using biometrics, and that the data is correct against official data sources.


CONFIRMATION

Smart ID will confirm if the ID verification has been successful, and if not, which components need to be retried.

finPOWER Connect/Centrix Biometric Verification Process

To begin the process, initiate a Credit Enquiry on a Client.

  • Select CentrixNZ from the Service List
  • Select Biometric Verification from the Product List
  • Click Next

Check the Client's: Name, Date of Birth, Gender and Mobile Phone Number are correct.

  • Click Next to access the "Accept Charges" window
  • Confirm you wish to proceed
finPOWER Connect_Client_Details

The Client will receive a text (SMS) message with a link to the Verification page.  When opened in the Client's phone's browser the Verification process  will step the Client through the following procedure:

  • Acceptance of a Privacy Waiver
  • Selecting an Identification Type  (NB: New Zealand Passports and Driver Licences are currently supported)
  • Taking a photo of their Driver's Licence or Passport, or uploading a photo of these identification types taken previously
  • Taking a short "Selfie" video to prove their "Liveness", and to compare with the photograph on the document
  • Checking the Name and ID # details scanned from the Driver's Licence or Passport
  • Entering new details if the scanned details are incorrect
  • Confirming their address


Reports

The Initial Summary Page depicts that the request has been submitted.

The History Service Log in the above screen shot indicates the Client has yet to start the Verification process.

  • Click the "Update Status" button to ascertain the Verification's progress from Centrix
  • Once the Client starts the process, the Status will update to "In Progress" as per the below screen shot


Once the Client has completed the Verification process, the "Update Status" button will produce a full report, and the Status will update to "Complete"
